We got to sit down with Josh Brown in between his exciting cricketing and life adventures and chat about what he’s been up to.
Josh’s experience in the Cayman Islands for the T60Max was “unreal” with the most stunning beaches at every turn and the opportunity to play with some current and upcoming legends of the game. His team consisted of superstars George Munsey from Scotland, Paddy Dooley and Chris Lynn who whilst he now says is a good mate, admits he had a huge fangirl moment when ‘Lynny’ walked out to bat with him and excitedly shouted “Hey Bash Bro!” Josh reflected how significant of an opportunity this was for him to create incredible network connections and develop new bonds with local and international players for his future endeavours – so watch this space!
Josh returned from his Cayman Islands premiership to prep for his Victorian Marsh Cup debut and continue pre-season work for his new BBL team, the Melbourne Renegades. Whilst he reflects it has been a wild few weeks with moving to Melbourne and readjusting from the high humidity of the Caymans, the welcome he has experienced from both Melbourne teams has been nothing short of inclusive and incredibly enjoyable. Everyone being treated the same no matter their previous playing experience or ‘status’ in the game, has created an environment where the incredibly competitive net sessions are filled with banter and good-hearted sledging, building on the strong bond and culture of the team. One of Josh’s favourite parts of this new environment is how they come together outside of training at team dinners and that every player turns up, which he says makes everyone feel like they matter, are equal and want to be there as much as the teammate sat next to them.
Outside of his explosive cricketing life, Josh has been running up the golf course recently with his new teammates and even team managers. However, his focus is mainly on his upcoming cricket with the Marsh Cup and his new venture with Fitzroy Doncaster Cricket Club down in Melbourne.
A question Josh gets asked a LOT is who he would love to play with in the future if he had a choice – and we’ve finally got you the answer! AJ Tye, Nic Hobson and ‘Bash Bro’ Chris Lynn were all at the top of his list following his time in the Cayman Islands with the boys and creating strong long-lasting friendships with each of them. However, AJ Tye may be more in favour of being on Josh’s side than he is, given in the Caymans there weren’t many balls AJ bowled to Josh that didn’t get sent over the rope!!!
We are so excited to watch Josh’s new journeys unfold this season and we know you’ll be right behind him too as the Cooper Cricket Community. Let us know on our socials your burning questions for Josh and if you’re lucky he could be answering your question next!
