Back in the day, willow had considerably more moisture and was oiled regularly before a protective coating was applied, which meant no further oil was required given it was incredibly difficult for the moisture to escape and dry out the willow. Nowadays, cricket bats are crafted with bigger profiles and edges yet are incredibly light in comparison which allows players to hit the ball further without it having to come off the middle. Unfortunately, this also means there are more breakages due to the dryness of the willow and whilst oiling it will help, the most effective and efficient form of protection is cricket bat face protection.
We specialise in four key face protections, which have been designed to be easily removed and replaced when sending your bat in for a cleanup and will not disrupt the way you bat against all kinds of cricket balls:
- Clearguard – a high quality, robust, rip-resistant clear protective layer that aids in moisture retention and minimises surface cracks and dents
- Clearguard with fibre edging - a high quality, robust, rip-resistant clear protective layer that aids in moisture retention and minimises surface cracks and dent with fibreglass taping around the edges for extra support
- Fibreguard – a high quality, fibreglass reinforced protection
- Bat Armour – an ultra-thick optically clear face protectant built to withstand the rigors of consistent use
To maintain your cricket bat’s performance and longevity, we highly recommend applying face protection.
