FAQs
Here are the common questions we get asked 🙂
WHAT TYPES OF REPAIRS DO YOU OFFER?
We handle just about everything, rehandles, toe repairs, crack repairs, full cleans, facings, bindings, weight adjustments and more. If it can be saved, we’ll do it. If not, we’ll let you know before going ahead.
HOW DO I GET MY BAT TO YOU?
You can either drop it off in person or post it to us.
- WORKSHOP ADDRESS:
Cooper Cricket - 1 Axford Street, Northgate, Brisbane, QLD 4013
Phone: 07 3267 0936 - POSTAGE:
If you’re posting your bat, please package it securely and don’t send it in a bat cover, as we can’t guarantee covers will be returned. Return postage is a flat $20 anywhere in Australia.
WHO IS THE BEST SERVICE TO POST MY BAT WITH?
Australia Post is the easiest option with outlets in every town and city. Otherwise, you can use any courier. Our workshop is a commercial building, open seven days a week during our business hours, so couriers can always deliver.
HOW LONG DO REPAIRS TAKE?
Most repairs are completed within 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the work required and the workshop's workload. If you’re in a rush, you can choose our Jump the Queue service.
WHAT IS THE JUMP THE QUEUE SERVICE?

WILL MY STICKERS BE KEPT ON DURING REPAIRS?
We always try to keep stickers on. For minor work, such as clean-ups, facings, and light repairs, they’ll usually stay intact.
- Weight reductions: If we’re removing a significant amount of weight, stickers will need to come off completely.
- Rehandles: We typically cut through the splice area and replace the handle, then cover the join with a splice sticker that matches your colour set. If you’d prefer, we can remove all stickers. Please note that edge stickers may get damaged in the vice when the bat is clamped securely.
CAN ALL CRACKS BE REPAIRED?
Almost. Surface cracks are usually fine, but:
- If the crack runs horizontally across the blade in a serious way, it may not be worth repairing.
- If the crack comes down from the bottom of the splice on the back of the bat, it usually can’t be saved.
We’ll always be upfront. If you visit us in person, we’ll discuss it with you directly. If you post your bat in, we’ll contact you before taking any action. Sometimes, players insist on having a bat repaired even when we don’t recommend it. In such cases, we’ll still do the work, but it will be done without warranty.
WHAT IF MY BAT ISN’T WORTH REPAIRING?
We’ll let you know. We don’t repair just for the sake of it; we only do so if the bat will still function properly afterwards. If we don’t think it will, we’ll advise against it. If you decide not to proceed, we can either return your bat to you or dispose of it on your behalf.
DO REPAIRS AFFECT BAT PERFORMANCE?
Appropriately done, repairs will usually extend the life of your bat without hurting performance. With significant damage, there can be a slight change in feel, but we’ll do our best to keep it playing how you like it.
DO YOU REPAIR NON-COOPER BATS?
Yes, we repair any brand of bat.
DO YOU KNOCK IN BATS FROM ANY BRAND?
Yes, absolutely. We knock in all brands of bats, not just Cooper.
WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
Once your bat arrives, we’ll send you an invoice with a secure payment link. You can pay by card, bank transfer, PayPal, Afterpay or Zip.
HOW SHOULD I PACKAGE MY BAT FOR POSTING?
Wrap it securely in bubble wrap or cardboard, tape it tightly, and use a strong satchel or box. Avoid sending it in a bat cover as these can be lost or discarded.
DO REPAIRS COME WITH A WARRANTY?
Yes, all repairs include a 3-month workmanship warranty. This covers the repair itself, not new damage caused during play. If you’ve asked us to repair a bat that we advised against, it will be done without warranty.
WHY DO BATS BREAK SO MUCH THESE DAYS?
It comes down to our obsession with big bats. To make bats bigger and lighter, growers have to pull more moisture out of the willow during the drying process. This loss of moisture means the wood loses some of its natural elasticity. Instead of flexing and moving with the ball, the blade becomes more brittle, and cracks appear more easily.
The best thing you can do for your bat is apply linseed oil and take good care of it. Bats need moisture to maintain their elasticity, and regular care will help slow down the drying process.
