As we celebrate International Women's Day, we have been discussing as a team the role of sport and women in sport, both here in Australia and around the world.
When the older few of our Cooper Cricket team watched TV as kids, there weren't too many female role models to look up to. Women were achieving great things in sport - they just weren't on our TV's as much.
The younger members of our team have been fortunate to see much more female sport and have been witness to the change on our TV's and in the media in general.
We certainly agree that Australian sport has done a lot of changing and the air play women's sport now receives is streets ahead of where it was 30 years ago. We can't help but wonder what the media and sport landscape will be like in another 30 years?
In the meantime - here's to the women in cricket, in sport and around us all.
May we know them,
may we be them,
may we raise them.
