We’re pleased to supply genuine English willow clefts and part made cricket bats to bat makers right across Australia, sourced direct from England and supplied from our Brisbane workshop.

This time of year, the workshop fills up with more than just the sound of tools and timber, it fills up with stories. Players wander in to have a bat repaired, to grab an extra set of gloves, or just to have a yarn, and with them comes summer - long days, hard work, and seasons taking shape.

We hear about early mornings at training, about hours spent in the nets, about preparation finally paying off.

There’s plenty of movement in the Cooper Cricket workshop at the moment, with bats being refurbished and repaired as players push through the second half of the summer season.

Despite going down in the final against Queensland, Cooper put together a strong campaign and was rewarded with a selection in the Australian Merit Team.

The bat arrived in a condition only a true cricket hero could still admire. The back was almost entirely blackened from age, moisture, and decades of wear. The grip had melted. The binding had disintegrated entirely. The handle was damaged and required sections to be rebuilt. A significant graft was needed down at the toe to return to its original shape. It was tired. It was battered. But it was far from done.

See, most people look at professional athletes and assume they’ve always had it together. That they were born running hills and lifting weights and counting macros. But that’s not Josh. Josh has always just played cricket. He’s a big, strong unit — built for power — but “fitness” in the traditional gym-junkie sense? That was never part of the picture.

Cricket bat making is more than just a craft—it’s a passion, a challenge, and for those of us who do it, a privilege. At Cooper Cricket, the journey started in a garage, fueled by a deep love for the game and a desire to create something tangible, something meaningful.
