There is no set time frame as to when to retire your cricket bat and invest in a new one. Dependent on the amount of usage your bat gets and how effectively you maintain it will determine how long your bat will continue to perform.
Whilst you will be accustomed to your current bat, regular wear and tear will occur requiring repairs which over time will become a costly exercise. At this point, you’ll need to consider a number of factors as to whether you stick with your current bat or push forward to the next.
Cricket bats are very repairable! We can help you replace your handle, repair a damaged toe, re-laminate loose willow and more with our cricket bat repairs. Repairing means no need for knocking in, so you can walk out match ready with a bat that feels just as good as before as soon as your repair is complete.
A new bat will be different to your current one, it’ll take some time for you to properly adjust to new features and for it to perform at its best. It is essential to understand that new cricket bats require a big financial investment especially as you customise, and there is no guarantee it will work for you. But sometimes, your current bat will have had its glory days and you’ll know it’s time to send it into retirement.
So have a good look at your bat, and if you’re still happy with its performance and it’s continuing to work well for you, show it some love by bringing it in for a repair and giving it a fresh look for the new season!
