ORIGINAL STANDARD CRICKET BAT
Made to order, we’ll build yours. Ready in about 2 weeks.
Really classic, really clean: a traditional shape and honest bat making, with real presence behind the ball.
Who it suits: A mid-to-low middle for taller players, front-foot players and anyone who meets the ball early. The mass sits higher in the blade, so the pickup feels naturally light. For players who like bats the way they used to be made.
The standard Original: the same blade, made to a standard spec with a traditional handle and toe shape. Hard toe protection and professional knocking in are included, so it arrives ready for the nets. Male adult, small adult and female sizes; pick your size and weight, willow grade and colour.

Three adult sizes, drawn to scale
Most makers give adults one size. We make three, sized to your height, then built to the weight you choose.

Male adult
For players 168 to 196cm (5'6" to 6'5")
2lb 8.5oz to 2lb 13oz (1148 to 1275g)

Small adult
For shorter male players, 160 to 168cm (5'3" to 5'6")
2lb 8.5oz to 2lb 13oz (1148 to 1275g)

Female
For female players from 160cm (5'3")
2lb 6oz to 2lb 8oz (1077 to 1134g)
The female size is not just a shorter bat: it has its own blade shape and press, built for female players. The small adult is its own bat too, with its own press, not a cut-down male adult. If you sit between two sizes, either will work, and we will help you decide.
Your willow grade, explained
Our Players grade. The cleanest English willow we source, with the straightest and most numerous grains.
Grade 1 English willow. Straight, even grains with only minor natural marks on the face.
Grade 2 English willow. A few more natural marks and some colour in the blade, great value for most players.
Select English willow with the most natural character: colour, marks and wider grain, at our most accessible price.
Every standard bat
Standard spec, never a shortcut.
Every standard Cooper leaves the workshop with the same preparation our custom bats get. This is what is included, on every model, every time.
Knocked in, around 15,000 strikes
Every standard bat goes through our knock-in machine for around 15,000 strikes, then gets checked and finished by hand. That is the work that protects a new bat from early cracking. Yours arrives net ready.
A hard toe
The toe is where most bats die first: yorkers, tapping at the crease, damp outfields. Every standard bat leaves with a hardened toe fitted, so the most vulnerable part of your bat is protected from day one.
Face protection, fitted as standard
A clear protective sheet over the face keeps moisture out and holds the striking surface together as the willow compresses with use. It extends the life of the face without hiding the grain.
Boned edges
We compress and bone the edges before the bat leaves the workshop. It is an old-school bat maker's step that hardens the edge before it ever sees a ball.
Oiled the right amount
Too much oil deadens willow, too little lets it dry out and crack. Every bat is oiled and balanced before it ships, so you do not have to guess.
A traditional handle
Standard bats carry our Traditional handle: similar to a Semi Oval but slightly thicker at the bottom, great for the all-round player with good bottom-hand control, and it suits a lot of players. Prefer a different shape? That is one of the choices the Bat Builder gives you.

Want to customise your entire bat?
A standard bat is our proven spec, ready in about two weeks. A custom bat starts from the same willow in the same workshop, then hands you the decisions: middle position, handle shape and thickness, face and toe protection, sticker colours and laser engraving. That is the Bat Builder.
Good to know
Shipping and delivery
Free standard shipping on Australian orders over $100. Most in-stock orders ship within 1 to 2 business days. Made-to-order bats and repairs go out once they are ready, usually around two weeks. We will keep you posted along the way.
Returns and warranty
Every Cooper is backed by our workshop. If something is not right, talk to us. See our refund policy for change of mind and faulty items. Willow is a natural product, so fair wear and tear is part of the game, but we will always look after you.
Knock-in and care
A new bat needs knocking in and oiling before it faces a hard ball. Every standard bat leaves us professionally knocked in, and our knock-in service covers any other bat.
